Associate Engineer/Scientist

The Associate Engineer II / Associate Scientist II will support the
Cell Culture group of the Development Pilot Plant (DPP). The DPP is
responsible for producing pre-clinical and development supplies of
monoclonal antibodies, scaling-up and optimizing cell culture
operations, and contributing to the transfer of processes to the Good
Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Pilot Plant and commercial manufacturing
environment, as necessary. The Associate Engineer II / Associate
Scientist II will support cell culture operations in the DPP,
including process equipment preparation, operation of perfusion and
fed-batch bioreactors, and in-process sample analysis. The individual
will maintain accurate records of processing activities in batch
documents or lab notebooks and will support scale-up and optimization
of novel cell culture operation methods and technologies in
conjunction with the Bioprocess Development group and the GMP Cell
Culture Operations group. The Associate Engineer II / Associate
Scientist II will also assist in the transfer and implementation of
these new processes and technologies into the GMP Pilot Plant and
commercial manufacturing. The candidate will interface with
Scientists, Engineers, Technical Consultants, and Service
Representatives and will participate in technical, GMP and safety
training for Pilot Plant personnel. Additional responsibilities may be
assigned as necessary to support the company's business objectives.

Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering,
Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences (i.e.
Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry) or related field with at least 5+
years of relevant experience is required or a Masters degree with 2+
years of experience or a PhD in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering,
Chemical Engineering and/or Life Sciences (i.e. Biology, Microbiology,
Biochemistry) is required. The individual is required to have
knowledge of cell culture. A solid understanding of large-scale
operations, scale-up, process development, technology transfer,
bioreactors, mammalian cell culture and/or GMP is highly desired. The
successful candidate will be a hands-on team player, while possessing
the ability to work independently. An ideal candidate will have
excellent oral and written communication skills and posses the ability
to collaborate internally and externally. The position may require an
individual to work occasional weekend hours to support cell culture
operations. This Senior Associate Scientist opportunity is located in
Spring House, PA.
